What types of hackers are there?

There are many different types of hackers now and days, so let’s try to take a look at these.

Whitehat:
A Whitehat is a hacker that only using legal methods to do his job.
(It can happen sometimes that this hacker using illegal methods on his job, but only if he got a written permission from the owner of the system.)
This kind of hackers mostly works for companies and getting well-paid.

Greyhat:
A Greyhat is a hacker that most of the time only think about own winnings and how to earn a lot of money. He is using both legal and illegal methods to do his job.
Often this kind of hacker has a lot of contacts, so he can be hard to trace.
This kind of hackers mostly works for underground organisations or criminal gangs.
Blackhat:
A Blackhat is a hacker with no respect for the authorities. These hackers won’t hesitate to destroy a system, and maybe also try to get money out of the victims in trade for the system information.
Blackhats are hardcore criminals like for example terrorists or military groups.
This kind of hackers mostly works in association with terrorists or other dangerous criminals.

Ghost hacker:
A Ghost hacker is a person living two different lives. He can be a normal IT-supporter, programmer or data technician, and when he comes home, he is a very dangerous hacker. Nobody knows that he’s also a hacker, and most often this kind of hackers are involved in many different kind of criminal acts without many one knows about it. This kind of hacker is almost impossible to trace, and that’s why they are so dangerous.
This kind of hackers mostly works for big criminal associations, but only having a specific contact to these.

Script kiddie:
A Script kiddie is a person that using programs to hack into systems, and isn’t really a real hacker.
These “kids” would like to be a hacker, but don’t have a clue about how to hack into a system without being caught and when they try, they often getting caught in few minutes. Other hackers often calling these for “newbs” or “lamers”, and don’t like to involved with these.

Cracker:

A cracker is a person that will do anything to break into a system, and they mostly just like to destroy or sabotage these, because they think it’s cool, funny or to get an adrenalin
